2021 Jeep Wrangler vs 2021 Jeep Gladiator

Serving Merrillville, IN

One of the biggest differences between the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Gladiator is body style. The Jeep Wrangler, which was the inspiration for the Jeep Gladiator’s general design, is a small SUV, while the Jeep Gladiator is a convertible truck with the body of an SUV and the open bed of a pickup truck. Both Jeep vehicles get some updates in 2021. Features and performance characteristics change for the Wrangler this year, which is now offered as a hybrid. Several special editions are now available too, including an 80th Anniversary and Islander. The Rubicon trims also get some changes in power with a new V8 engine for the Rubicon 392 and four-wheel drive for the Rubicon. The Jeep Gladiator is offered with a diesel engine in 2021.

Performance

Multiple engines are available for the Jeep Wrangler and the Gladiator in 2021. The base engine for the Jeep Wrangler is a 3.6L gasoline six-cylinder engine. The base engine’s power potential is 285 HP, and its torque capacity is 260 LB-FT. You can get either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Two engines are optional, including a four-cylinder that delivers 270 HP and a diesel with a torque capacity of 442 LB-FT. New in 2021, the Rubicon is offered with a V8 that reaches 470 in both HP and torque. A hybrid that creates 375 HP is also an option. The Jeep Gladiator offers two engines. You can get the gasoline V6 that produces 285 HP, or you can get the new diesel engine launched in 2021 that achieves a power and torque output of 260 HP and 442 LB-FT, respectively.

Appearance

Since the Jeep Gladiator’s appearance is heavily based on the Wrangler’s, both SUVs look similar from the front end. Rather than an enclosed body, however, the Gladiator has a cargo bed with a five-foot span. The Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator both stand out as versatile vehicles with a folding windshield and removable roof. The Wrangler can be ordered with a soft top or hard top. A black hard top that has removable roof panels is offered for the Gladiator.

Features

Many features are available across the board for the Wrangler and Gladiator in 2021. The base Wrangler and Gladiator trims have a five-inch display and crank windows. Additional comforts are added with the Wrangler Sport S, including a leather-wrapped wheel and air conditioning. Leather seats are added to the top trims of both cars.
