2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Serving Merrillville, IN

When you stop by our showroom at Bosak Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Merrillville soon, you will notice an all-new SUV model. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s nameplate is so close to the Grand Cherokee’s nameplate that you may assume that the Grand Cherokee L is simply a trim level rather than a new model. However, the Grand Cherokee L is a full-size model with larger dimensions from front to rear and the third row of seats in the cabin. What other differences should you know about these two exciting options?

Performance

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s base price is noticeably higher than the Grand Cherokee’s base MSRP, and one reason for this is because of differences under the hood. Both of these models have the same Pentastar V6, a 3.6-liter gas engine, but the Grand Cherokee’s lighter weight lends itself to more horsepower. This engine produces 290 horsepower in the Grand Cherokee and 285 horsepower in the Grand Cherokee L. The Grand Cherokee L is also available with a 357-horsepower, V8, 5.7-liter engine that can tow up to 7,200 pounds.

Appearance

The Grand Cherokee has easy-on-the-eyes styling that shows off the ruggedness that you expect from a Jeep and the sophistication that the model is known for. The Grand Cherokee L takes some design cues from its smaller sibling, such as the rectangular, stretched grille. However, it makes these features their own. The grille, for example, has a subtle curve on the Grand Cherokee and a flat presence on the Grand Cherokee L. Comparatively, the Grand Cherokee L has sharper accents on the hood and sides, more rectangular headlights and taillights, a stretched design for the fog lamps and a few other exciting differences.

Features

In addition to the extra row of seats in the Grand Cherokee L’s cabin, you will immediately notice that the all-new model has a redesigned steering wheel and a fresh style across the dashboard. This includes a 10.25-inch digital cluster for the driver’s instruments, a 10-inch central display screen, and rotary controls for the gear selector climate and the management system.
