2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2020 Chevy Traverse

Serving Merrillville, IN

Awarded Jeep’s Trail Rated label, the 2020 Grand Cherokee is much more capable than the 2020 Chevy Traverse SUV. Available with several exclusive 4×4 drive systems, the Jeep model offers class-leading handling.

Boosted by a supercharger, the 2020 Grand Cherokee’s available 6.2 L engine delivers best-in-class output. This V8 gas powertrain unleashes up to 707 net horsepower and 645 pound-feet of peak torque. Rated at only 310 hp and 266 lb-ft, the 2020 Traverse’s standard 3.6 L V6 engine stands no chance against the supercharged propulsion system. The Chevy’s six-cylinder engine is also much weaker than the Grand Cherokee’s 5.7 L and 6.4 L V8 engines, which have the HEMI labels. Additionally, this versatile Jeep SUV offers the Pentastar V6 engine with fuel-saving technology. Strong enough to pull 7,200 pounds, the 2020 Grand Cherokee has best-in-class towing capabilities. In stark contrast, the 2020 Traverse can only handle a 5,000-pound trailer.

Off-Road Capabilities

Fitted with the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, the 2020 Grand Cherokee gets reliable traction on a wide range of surfaces. This exclusive drivetrain comes with a rear limited-slip differential that’s controlled electronically. Conveniently located in the center console, the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System gives you the freedom to select unique driving modes. For example, you can turn the electronic dial to the Sand Mode or Snow Mode. An entire electronic button is dedicated to the 4WD Low Mode, which boosts low-speed crawling on rough terrains. Additionally, the Trail Rated vehicle has front red tow hooks and multiple skid plates for maximum protection during off-road adventures. Engineered for all-terrain performance, Goodyear tires with Kevlar reinforcement are optional on this robust SUV. Despite having a 4WD system and the Traction Mode Select, the 2020 Chevy Traverse doesn’t match the off-road capabilities of this legendary Jeep model.

The Uconnect 4C NAV infotainment system makes an exciting return inside the 2020 Grand Cherokee. Some applications that you will see on the 8.4-inch touch screen include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM All Access. You can also download the Uconnect mobile app on your smartphone to access the Vehicle Finder, Vehicle Remote Start, SOS Call, and other features. Supporting up to eight devices at one time, a 4G Wi-Fi network is powered by the Uconnect suite. Additionally, this patented infotainment console supports Amazon Alexa and Bluetooth. You simply don’t get as many high-tech amenities from the 2020 Traverse’s Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System.
