2019 Jeep Wrangler vs 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Serving Merrillville, IN

The 2018 model year marked the release of the fourth-edition Jeep Wrangler. Therefore, you’ll find many more design changes on that year’s model. The 2019 Wrangler gets some minor tweaks and changes, but nothing as significant as the 2018 version. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler earns Motortrend’s “SUV of the Year” award, which is a testament to its power and performance capabilities. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler also comes with some more standard safety features than were offered in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler, however, got many new changes from the 2017 model year. This includes an overhaul to its exterior design and some notable improvements to its interior as well. The 2018 Wrangler is more durable and off-road-ready than before with a six-cylinder engine and an enhanced powertrain. Updated technology and safety amenities make the interior more comfortable than before.

Performance

When it comes to performance, both the 2019 Jeep Wrangler and the 2018 Jeep Wrangler have much to offer. The 2019 Wrangler comes standard with the same base engine that it had in the past model year, which is a 3.6L, six-cylinder engine that produces a maximum of 285 HP and 260 LB-FT of torque. There is a more powerful engine available too, which is a 2.0L, turbocharged engine with direct injection technology. The turbocharged engine produces up to 270 HP and 295 LB-FT of torque. It gives the Wrangler a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Both engines can be paired with several drivetrain configurations, including multiple 4×4 options. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler features the same engine choices and drivetrain configurations as the 2019 model year.

Appearance

Since the Jeep Wrangler got a major style change in 2018, you’ll find few differences in the 2019 model year. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler still retains many elements of Jeep’s classic looks, including a centered logo and distinctive seven-slot front grille. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler received a foldable windshield for the first time, which allows drivers to simply roll down the windshield when they want more fresh air. Best of all, the windshield can be easily unhinged with very few bolts. As in the past, the Wrangler comes with a hardtop and a soft top variation. For the first time in 2018, however, the Jeep Wrangler gets a one-touch option that lets you fold the top down with the touch of a button. The doors can also be removed for an open-air experience. The Jeep Wrangler received new (LED)lighting elements in 2018 that enhanced its visibility and appearance. Those same lights, which include headlights and taillights, carry over to the 2019 model year.

Features

On the inside, the 2019 and 2018 Jeep Wrangler have much in common. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler comes with an available 8.4-inch infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. There are a few more standard safety features in the 2019 Jeep Wrangler too, including forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. Both vehicles get more amenities at the higher trim levels, including plush leather seats and a personalized instrument cluster display screen for the driver. An available 552W sound system with eight speakers and a subwoofer is available on both model years of the Wrangler. Heated seats and ventilated seats, which are standard on select trims, ensure optimal passenger comfort.
