2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Serving Merrillville, IN

If you’re searching for a quality Jeep this year, both the 2019 Grand Cherokee and the 2019 Cherokee are reliable options. The 2019 Grand Cherokee, which ranks among the top for midsize SUVs, does not get any changes this year. The Grand Cherokee of this model year still has a luxurious, amenity-filled interior that has the latest in technology, too. While the cabin is upscale and refined, the Grand Cherokee has not lost its legendary performance and handling capabilities. This year, the SUV is stronger and more capable than ever with reliable towing power and more optional engines. The Grand Cherokee also has enough off-road capabilities to charge through just about anything. The 2019 Cherokee, on the other hand, debuts with an updated exterior and a new engine option, which is a 2.0L four-cylinder with turbo power. The infotainment system is also upgraded this model year. While the engine provides more power, the Jeep’s versatile suspension system makes even the toughest trails and rough roads feel smooth. The Trailhawk, a higher-end Cherokee trim, features even more off-road capability.

Both the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2019 Jeep Cherokee excel in the area of performance and handling. The 2019 Grand Cherokee is built with one of two engines. The base is a 6.4L V8 that’s matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine, which creates up to 475 HP and 470 LB-FT of torque, is linked to five different drive modes that provide condition-specific traction and handling. This engine enables the Grand Cherokee to tow 7,200 pounds. A supercharged 6.2L V8 engine is a second option. This powerful engine has a power capacity of 707 HP and 645 LB-FT of torque. It has the same towing capacity as the base engine. The Jeep Cherokee offers three engines. The base is a 2.4L, while the second is a 3.2L V6, and the top engine is a 2.0L turbo engine. The V6 engine offers more power than the base engine with a total of 271 HP. The premier 2.0L turbo engine generates a maximum of 270 HP. All engines are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive, available on both the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee, adds to the performance capabilities of both Jeep SUVs.

Both the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee have familiar Jeep elements and some new features too. The Grand Cherokee gets a sculpted seven-slot grille this year and dramatic falcon’s wing headlights. Its exterior is further characterized by sculpted lines, aerodynamic curves, chrome accents, and LED lights. Tow hooks, located in the front, add a bit of style and function to the Grand Cherokee’s appearance as well. The Grand Cherokee rides on wheels sized 17-20 inches. The Jeep Cherokee, on the other hand, gets a new look in 2019 with a revised front end, custom LED lights, and fog lights. It also has an improved hands-free liftgate this year. The Cherokee’s wheels range in size from 17 to 19 inches.

The interior of both the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee are chock-filled with amenities. Highlights of the Grand Cherokee include an 8.4-inch infotainment screen with navigation and voice command and several choices of leather seats. A dual-panel sunroof is available, and a driver’s information screen shows important trip information — the Cherokee shares many of the same interior features as the Grand Cherokee. Along with an award-winning touchscreen, it offers an available 4G WiFi hotspot and perforated leather seats.

You cannot go wrong with either of these two Jeep SUVs. They share many similarities but have distinct differences, too. Maybe you already know which one you want, or you’d like to try out both. Either way, we invite you into our dealership to test out the latest Grand Cherokee and Cherokee today.
