What’s New for the 2017 Jeep Cherokee?
The midsize 2017 Jeep Cherokee is a superb driving and off-roading machine, and is here to wow you with its litany of features new or improved upon for 2017. There are two new Overland Packages becoming available later in 2017 if you can wait it out, both with standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps (except the Sport) and a standard Alpine audio system, a wood-trim Zebrano steering wheel, and floor mats. For 2017, the durable Trailhawk model has, as standard, heated Nappa-leather front seats paired with a premium heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, a universal garage door opener, Keyless Enter ‘n Go, a power eight-way driver seat, a remote start system, and a lot more. Jeep has smartly built upon an already tested and stout platform with its Cherokee line, and only adds to it in 2017, as you will soon see.
First off, if you need to tow things, the Cherokee can do it: the available towing package enables V6 models to reach a hefty 4,500-pound towing capacity. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee has as standard a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. Optional on almost all models is a 3.2-liter V6 that throws down 271-horsepower and gets 239 lb-ft of torque. A skillful nine-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The 2017 Jeep Cherokee shows up strong in five trim levels, those main models are the Sport, Latitude, Limited, Overland, and the Trailhawk. All models can be either 4×2 and 4×4, except for the 4×4-only Trailhawk. Speaking of the Trailhawk it has a locking rear differential, skid plates, tow hooks, a larger driver information display with color graphics, hill ascent and descent control, wider 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, satellite radio and Jeep’s 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface. The Sport weighs in with 17-inch steel wheels, remote keyless entry, an SD card reader, sliding and reclining rear seats with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, Bluetooth and auxiliary audio input, and much more. The Latitude enjoys the benefits of alloy wheels, and also sees roof rails, fog-lights, automatic xenon headlights, a rearview camera, LED interior lighting, and a 115-volt outlet put into its design. The Limited model has, as standard, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Overland is ready to rock with a nine-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, a power-adjustable passenger seat (with four-way power lumbar), an acoustic windshield and front windows, and a power liftgate. There are three Special Edition models of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee: the Altitude, the High Altitude model, and the 75th Anniversary Edition (being made through Dec. 2016).
